The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Pune [NCRA] of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research [TIFR] (an autonomous institute under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India) is an internationally reputed research institute. NCRA-TIFR has set up two radio telescopes, viz., the Ooty Radio Telescope and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). The ORT is run by the Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC), Ooty. NCRA-TIFR is on the lookout for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions at its Radio Astronomy Centre at Ooty. –

Clerk (A) [1 Post; ST; HQ:Ooty]
[TME: 18,280/-, PB-1: 5200-20200, GP: 2000]
EQ:
i) Graduate with 50% marks,
(ii) Knowledge of typing and use of personal computers and applications,
(iii) Candidate with better typing skills will be given preference.
Desirable:
i) State recognized certificate course in computers or equivalent
(ii) Drafting skills in English is highly desirable.
Experience: One year experience as a Clerk in administrative matters and correspondence in large and reputed organization.
Age: Below 33 years (after relaxation). -
Administrative Trainee [2 Posts; HQ:Ooty]
[Stipend : 15,000/-; Tenure: Max. 2 years]
EQ:
i) Bachelor Degree from a recognized university
ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications
iii) Typing speed of more than 35 wpm OR equivalent proficiency of 10500 KDPH on computers.
Nature of Training: Training in the area of Accounts, General Administration, HR and Purchase. No absorption after training.
Age: Below 28 years.

NCRA – TIFR has set up two radio telescopes, viz., the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). The ORT is run by the Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC), Ooty, NCRA – TIFR is on the lookout for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions at its Radio Astronomy Centre at Ooty.
1. Scientific Assistant – B [Trainee] [1 post; ST + PWD (HH)*; HQ: Ooty] Stipend: 16, 000 pm. Successful training will lead to absorption, on probation, as Scientific Assistant – B in PB – 2: 9300 – 34800; GP: 4200 [TME: 33387/-].
Minimum Qualification: (a) B.Sc. (Physics / Electronics) / Diploma in Engineering, (Electronics / Electrical and Electronics) with 60% marks in aggregate. (b) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications. Nature of job: Initial training in electronics / electrical, computer systems and operation of radio telescopes as Trainee for 1 year. Bond is to be executed before joining to serve NCRA for at least 3 years after successful completion of training. Age: Below 43 years for ST + PWD (Hearing Handicapped) (after relaxation)
*The candidate must attach a copy of the certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format stating the nature and extent of disability.
2. Tradesman – B [Mechanical] [1 Post, UR; HQ: Ooty] TME: 20969/-; PB – 1: 5200 – 20200, GP: 2000] Minimum Qualifications: (a) 10th or equivalent (b) ITI (Fitter) with minimum 60% marks. Minimum Experience: Either (i) 5 years or (ii) NCTVT with 4 years in reputed workshop / organization on large antennas, hands – on experience on heavy sized gearbox maintenance, exposure to various sheet metal developments and its fabrication, structural fabrication, various maintenance works, etc. To work at a height of 20 meter. Age: Below 28 years.
3. Tradesman – B [Welder] [1 Post, OBC; HQ: Ooty] TME: 20969/-; PB – 1: 5200 – 20200, GP: 2000] Minimum Qualifications: (a) 10th or equivalent (b) ITI – Welder with minimum 60% marks. IBR Certificate / X-Ray qualify welder certificate in pipe – 6G / plate – 4G positions. Minimum Experience: Either (i) 5 years or (ii) NCTVT with 4 year experience in IBR quality welding / X – ray quality welding, gas welding, brazing, etc., in large organisation. To work at a height of 20 meter on our Radio Telescope. Age: Below 31 years (after relaxation).
4. Tradesman – B [Civil] [1 Post, UR, HQ: Ooty] TME: 20969 /-; PB – 1: 5200 – 20200, GP: 2000] Minimum Qualifications: (a) 10th or equivalent (b) ITI — Civil Draftsman with minimum 60% marks. Minimum Experience: Either (i) 2 years or (ii) NCTVT with 1 year experience in making all civil drawing, preparing estimate and supervision of site work. Desirable: Knowledge and operation of AutoCAD in civil drawings. Age: Below 28 years.
5. Work Assistant (Mechanical) [1 Post; UR; HQ: Ooty] [TME: 17626; PB – 1: 5200 – 20200, GP: 1800] Minimum Qualifications & minimum experience: i) 10th OR Equivalent with 4 years experience in workshop / reputed industry / organisation or (ii) ITI (any mechanical) with two years experience in a medium / large sized industry / workshop.
Job Requirement: To work and assist staff in workshop, while carrying out various repair works on gearboxes, sheet – metal works, fabrication works, machines, upkeep of workshop area, etc. To carryout various maintenance activities such as removal of old grease, removal and replacement of gearbox oil, etc., while working at a height of 20 meter on our Radio Telescope. Age: Below 28 years.
6. Work Assistant (Laboratory) [2 Posts; UR; HQ: Ooty]
[Time: 17626; PB – 1: 5200 – 20200, GP: 1800]
Minimum Qualifications: i) 10th OR Equivalent (ii) ITI (Electronics)
Minimum Experience: One year experience in electronics
laboratory in a reputed organisation.
Job Requirement: Electronics Lab. wiring, testing and
maintenance of electronics lab.
Age: Below 28 years.
7. Work Assistant (Maintenance)
[2 Post; 1 OBC, 1 SC; HQ: Ooty]
[Time: 17626; PB – 1: 5200 – 20200, GP: 1800]
Minimum Qualifications: i) 10th OR Equivalent,
Minimum Experience: 1 year experience in estate maintenance.
Age: Below 33 years (SC) 31 years (OBC) (after relaxation).
Note: HQ mentioned is for present location. All the above posts are transferable within NCRA campuses i.e., Pune or Khodad.
