The World Health Organization (WHO) India through its National Polio Surveillance Project provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth to dynamic and energetic medical professionals having an aptitude for public health. The Project provides a unique platform to be a part of a highly qualified team of experts engaged in the field of eradication/ control of vaccine preventable diseases.
The National Polio Surveillance Project supports the Union and state Governments with technical assistance for surveillance and immunization activities directed towards polio eradication, measles elimination and intensification of routine immunization as a part of the broader agenda of Universal Health Coverage.
WHO India is recruiting dedicated and result oriented medical professionals as Surveillance Medical Officers (SMOs). Selected candidates will be posted in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other parts of India (Transferable).
SURVEILLANCE MEDICAL OFFICERS (Previous applicants need not apply)
Broad scope of responsibilities:
SMOs shall be responsible for applying the principles of epidemiology and public health and will be involved with capacity building, monitoring & evaluation and data management related to surveillance and immunization activities targeted towards vaccine preventable disease eradication/ control.
Qualifications
Essential:
MBBS (MCI / State Medical Council registration essential) Desirable: Post graduation in community medicine/ preventive & social medicine/ public health/ paediatrics / other allied fields
Experience:
Essential:
At least two years of public health experience after graduation (post graduation will count as experience)
Additional information:
Monthly remuneration is INR 110,000, taxable as per Indian laws and the appointment will be through Special Services Agreement (SSA) extendable subject to satisfactory performance and continuing need for the function.

SSA remuneration is composite, all inclusive fully taxable. TNP and TGS remuneration is net of tax. All vacancies shall be filled by nationals of India, only. Applications from women are encouraged. WHO does not recruit smokers.
Please note that initial appointments will be through a one year Special Services Agreement (SSA) or Temporary National Professional Officer (TNP) or Temporary General Service Staff (TGS) mechanism, extendable subject satisfactory performance, availability of funds and continuing need for the function.
