Public Notification seeking nominations for the post of the Vice Chancellor, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur
Nominations are sought from present and former Vice Chancellors, Heads of the Academic or Research Institutes and eminent scholars for the post of Vice-Chancellor for Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur by the Search Committee constituted by Governor of West Bengal for the purpose. Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (erstwhile Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur) is currently a State University in West Bengal.
The following would be the criteria for the nomination: The Vice Chancellor shall be appointed from the persons of the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment. The nominee shall be a distinguished academic preferably from engineering and technological background with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a University system of which at least 5 years shall be as a Professor or ten years of experience in a reputed research or academic administrative organization of which at least 5 years shall be in an equivalent position of professor. The nominee should have knowledge related to UGC & AICTE Regulations as well as acts and statues of State Universities and / or Institutes of National Importance. The age limit of the candidate should be preferably below 60 years. The names and contact details of two distinguished academicians well acquainted with the nominee’s work should be mentioned as referee.
Nominations duly signed by the nominating person and clearly mentioning his/her present/past affiliation/ designation along with the nominee’s curriculum vitae should be sent in hard as well as in soft copies so as to reach on or before July 29th, 2013. Short-listed candidates may be invited for a personal interaction by the Search Committee at their discretion.
Hard Copy nominations should be in Envelope clearly marked “Confidential – Nomination for Vice Chancellor’s Position – BESU” while the soft form is required to be sent with a similar subject line. The Committee reserves the right to consider persons of eminence outside the list of such nominations.
