Ashok Leyland, the flagship of the Hinduja Group, and one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in India is seeking candidates in the realm of Product Development across a gamut of areas with a relevant work experience of 3-8 years who are M.E., B.E., Diploma in Mech / Auto / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics or equivalent education with additional qualities of being an excellent team player and good communication skills.

All candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of engineering tools including CATIAV5/V6, PRO-E and PLM systems.
All positions are at Ashok Leyland’s Chennai R&D location.

CURRENT RECRUITMENT AREAS INCLUDE:

Fully Built Solutions
a) Bus: Domain knowledge, design and development experience in bus body (interior and exterior), packaging and vehicle integration, structure, trims and panels (PD/FBS)
b) Trucks: Experience in all Truck applications and packaging at vehicle / system level (PD/FTS)
Exposure to parts design, development and validation in the above areas.

Vehicle Engineering/Architecture
Knowledge and experience in frame design, overall vehicle integration including all aggregates, attributes, design and verification / validation, product complexity / modularity management and manufacturing methods. Cost / functional trade-off experience is also preferred (PD/VE)

Cab Engineering
# BIW/Trims
Domain knowledge and experience in BIW / Trims (interior and exterior) and packaging, sheet metal / plastics, with exposure to parts design, development and validation (PD/BIW)
# Cab Suspension
Experience in cab mounting, suspension, cab locking and tilt systems (PD/CSS)

Vehicle Suspension Systems
Domain knowledge, design and development experience of suspension systems for commercial vehicles (PD/VSS)

Vehicle Hydraulics
Experience in Vehicle and Cab hydraulic tipping system applications, and integration engineering (PD/HYD)

Steering Systems
Domain knowledge and experience in design and development of power steering applications, ride and handling (PD/STR)

Air – Intake Systems
Experience in air-intake system application, packaging, testing and sign-off (PD/AIS)

Vehicle Cooling Systems
Domain knowledge and experience in cooling system design and development, analysis, and validation of cooling performance (PD/CS)

Exhaust System Design
Experience in vehicle integration / packaging with domain knowledge of exhaust system / after treatment, SCR/ EGRtechnologies (PD/EXH)

Vehicle Electrical and Electronics Systems (PD/VEE)
# Multiple Openings – Power Train Controls/Power Train Calibration – Experience in development of algorithms and controls for engine and powertrain modules and proficiency to optimize powertrain modules based on vehicle driving operations and conditions.
# Dynamic Controls – Experience in development of vehicle control systems like ECAS, kneeling, stability controls.
# Electrical Systems – Expertise in EE System DMU, Packaging and Space Analysis including wiring harness and electrical component designs. Must be able to work on tools like CHS programming and SABER.

Attribute Engineering
Experience in one or more Vehicle system / component level Attribute Testing, development and refinement in areas like NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness), Vehicle Dynamics (Ride & Handling), Drivability, Subjective Assessment and Attribute Appraisal (PD/ATR)

Powertrain Integration
Experience in design / development of clutches, gear-box (manual / AMT / automatic), front / rear axles / wheels & tyres.
Responsible for selection of aggregates and optimization of performance depending on the application of the vehicles (PD/PTI)

Engines
Experience in design and development of engine systems for automotive and non-automotive applications like genset. marine engines, and proficiency in using Pro-E (PD/ENG)

Computer Aided Engineering
Experience in any of the following CAE domains in automotive sector – Crash & Safety / Structural Non-Linear / Structural Dynamics & Durability / NVH / Accounts / Multi-Body Dynamics/Vehicle Dynamics (PD/CAE)

Product Benchmarking
Experience in product benchmarking activity. Must possess strong skills in areas of assembly & disassembly of aggregates, reverse engineering, performance evaluation of systems / sub systems and QFD (PD/PB)

Prototype Build
Experience in hands-on prototype build co-ordination and resolution of vehicle assembly issues. Strong problem-solving and communication skills required (PD/PRTB)

Testing and Validation – Vehicle (PD/VET) / Component (PD/CTL) / Engine (PD/ETL)
Experience in automobile vehicle level testing, component testing, engine validation, fatigue analysis, data acquisition / simulation testing using servo – hydraulic test systems, engine test beds and auto-electrical testing. Proficiency in failure study and trouble shooting. Knowledge of rig design preferred.

Instrumentation (PD/INST)
Instrumentation / electronics degree with experience in selection & evaluation of new equipment, calibration & maintenance of test equipment and development of in-house facilities. Domain knowledge of design and trouble shooting of electronic systems.

Homologation (PD/HOM)
Experience in domestic and / or exports homologation. Able to study and deliver conformance to legislative requirements and standards. Networking skills with domestic/ exports certification agencies and internal test groups.
